It’s been a really interesting wedding photography season for me this year in terms of some of the musical bands and performers I have seen at Suffolk weddings, ranging from harpists to full Ceilidh bands. The prior added atmosphere and was a real talking point at the wedding and the latter encouraged even the most retiring guest to try out some Scottish dancing!
While I cannot give specific recommendations as I believe musical taste is a very personal thing so I think it’s something you have to select as a couple, I can wholeheartedly say that at all the weddings I have been to where there has been a musical theme have really benefitted from it. The music not only gives the day an extra special dimension, often it is moving and adds ambiance or it plainly and simply encourages people to hit the dance floor and have fun!
One point I would make is that the excellent Suffolk wedding fairs that happen throughout the year – there’s a Bury St Edmunds wedding fair at Ickworth House for instance – sometimes provide an opportunity to see musicians showcasing their skills in action.
